ZEN
The Center for Experimental Neurology (ZEN) is a unique translational research center in Switzerland. The ZEN fosters bench-to-bedside and back translation through collaborations between experimental and clinical research groups with long-standing expertise in sleep, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, neurodegeneration and stroke.
SWEZ
The Sleep-Wake-Epilepsy-Center (SWEZ) is affiliated with the Department of Neurology at Inselspital / Bern University Hospital, where disorders of sleep, alertness and consciousness are diagnosed, treated and researched. Neurologists, pneumologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, psychosomatics, psychologists, biologists, pharmacists and many more work together. This results in a rapid and precise diagnosis and therapy, which helps to provide the patient with optimal care.
Interfaculty Research Consortium “Decoding Sleep”
The IRC, «Decoding Sleep»: From Molecules to Health & Mind” was funded by the University of Bern. 13 research groups were bridging several domains including Medicine, Psychology, Psychiatry and Computer Science. The project aimed to gain new understanding of the function and regulation of sleep-wake-rhythms and to develop strategies for early and personalized therapies of sleep-wake and neuropsychiatric disorders. IRC closed its activities beginning of 2024.
Neurotec
The goal of NeuroTec is to promote novel, flexible and cost-efficient technologies that improve diagnostics, monitoring and therapies of neurological disorders as well as to expand the research program. NeuroTec is part of Insel Gruppe AG and located at sitem-insel – the Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine in Berne.
UPD
The University Psychiatric Services (UPD) provide all aspects of secondary and tertiary treatment in psychiatry across the lifespan and is responsible for the academic teaching of all psychiatric disciplines at the University. The UPD is committed to progress in the understanding, treatment, and prevention in psychiatry by clinical translational research. The Department covers psychiatric, psychological and caregiving aspects in childhood, adolescence, young to old age adults.
